by Lisa Olinda on December 18, 2009

The experienced web user may scoff at the question "How do you read a blog?" but to the inexperience web user they are overwhelmed by the buttons, neon lights and links that are provided. In a series of posts I will be reviewing some of the important elements of a blog to the reader and how to access them? Join me as we look at what makes a blog click.

What is a Blog?

One definition is “a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and web links”.  Another definition is “a blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is ‘blogging’ and someone who keeps a blog is a ‘blogger’…. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.”

A blog is a collection of posts (writings) from an individual or organization conveying to an online audience their message. The writing styles may vary from technical to personal, organized or eclectic. Usually you can find something to keep you educated or entertained.

Tomorrow we will cover some of the elements of a blog including the header, columns and pages.
